I am running to confront the tough issues that must be addressed to restore California to a place that leads the nation in innovation, education, job creation, environmentalism and social justice. I have dedicated my life to family and community and running for Assembly is continuation of that commitment. I have operated my own business as a family law attorney for over 30 years. During my professional career I have advanced the ability to create a dialogue between fractious parties to achieve consensus agreements. To that end, I have served as a Family Law Settlement Officer and a mediator for the Los Angeles Superior Court. As a councilmember and Mayor of Santa Monica the economic vitality of the City has been sustained, we are protecting the health of children and the elderly, providing affordable housing and restoring our environment to the benefit of all. For over a decade, I have successfully championed the cause of excellence in our public schools. As a California Coastal Commissioner, Chair of the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission, Chair of the Westside Cities Council of Governments, and board member of the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, I have represented every corner of the Assembly district by protecting our irreplaceable environment, helping to find agreement on regional transportation projects and providing leadership on a range of other important issues. I look forward to hearing your ideas on how we can make the new 50th Assembly district an even better place to live, work and play and to restore our faith in California's legislature.
